Round 4 of Roland Garros concludes today in what shuld be a dry sunny day in Paris. There are four men’s mathces on the card, Murray v Khachanov, Verdasco v Nishikori, Anderson v Cilic and Wawrinka v Monfils.
Verdasco v Nishikori
At approximately 11:30 UK time, Verdasco will take on Nishikori on court Suzanne Lenglen. So far Verdasco has been playing well at the French Open, knocking out Zverev in the first round in 4 sets, and dispatching Cuevas in straight sets in round three. On the other hand , Nishikori has been struggling mainly due to his physical condition. He dropped a set to Kokkinakis who hasn’t won a match since 24/1/2015 due to injuries, and he was taken to 5 sets against Chung, losing the fourth set 6-0.
In terms of their head-to-head record, they have shared one win a piece on clay, with Verdasco’s win coming due to a retirement back in 2012, while Nishikori beat Verdasco 3-2 here last year.
If Verdasco continues in his rich vain of form that he has exhibited so far here in Paris, then he has a great shot at progressing into the quarter finals to set up a match against the winner of Murray v khachanov. Therefore, 2.50 about Verdasco winning offers great value. Furthermore, if Verdasco is to win it is unlikely that it will be in 5 sets so I will also be backing him to win by 2 or more sets.
Verdasco to beat Nishikori @ 2.50
Verdasco -1.5 sets to win @ 3.40
